Charlotte, N.C. (May 12, 2011) – The Official NASCAR® Members Club (ONMC), NASCAR’s only licensed fan organization, is preparing to celebrate the sport and its grass-roots fan base during the sixth annual ONMC National Convention. The Convention begins Wednesday, May 18 and lasts through Saturday, May 21st.
The ONMC National Convention draws hundreds of the sport’s most passionate fans from as far away as California and Canada, who travel to Charlotte to be a part of the four-day long convention, which dates back to 2006.
“Every year, the ONMC hosts its most passionate and involved Members at the National Convention here in Charlotte, the home base of NASCAR,” said ONMC President & CEO David Hickson. “We are excited to celebrate our Local Chapters of NASCAR fans, by having the four-day celebration in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint All Star Race and the NASCAR Hall of Fame” added Hickson.
This year’s National Convention kicks off Wednesday, May 18, with a trip to Victory Junction where attendees will be participating in service projects followed by a night with the ONMC 500 at the NASCAR SpeedPark.
On Thursday, tours of the NASCAR R&D Center and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in Concord are on the schedule, followed by lunch at Garafalo’s Restaurant, a gathering at Whisky River in uptown Charlotte, and closing with the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge at Time-Warner Cable Arena.
Friday’s schedule will consist of a morning program at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, followed by tours of the year-old attraction and an ONMC Tailgate Party at Charlotte Motor Speedway, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance that will include a cook-out and games for attendees to enjoy.
Saturday will conclude the National Convention with various Garage Tours, and of course, the All-Star Race.
